Through its commitment to the local community, local schools and local charities, our Club has placed itself at the very heart of the communities of both Fareham and Gosport.
Gosport & Fareham RFC has well established links with Secondary schools in both Boroughs through our Schools Liaison Officer who has a programme of regular visits to the schools "taking rugby to the kids".
For many years Gosport & Fareham RFC has enjoyed excellent links with St. Vincent College and Fareham College. Both Colleges have introduced rugby to many youngsters who have joined our Club and gone on to play for the 1st XV.
We are linked to Bridgemary Community School which has 'Sports College Status' and to GADSAD (Gosport and District Sports Association for the Disabled).
We support many events in the Fareham and Gosport Boroughs such as the Gosport Carnival.
We have always worked to help local charities, most notably through the Wessex Cancer Trust when over £30,000 was raised in memory of Don Tilling, a promising forward who lost his fight against leukaemia when only 23 years old.
Our weekend of fundraising for ’Mission for Sam’ in March 2013 brought in £2,850 to go towards sending 16-year-old Sam John to go to the USA for treatment of an inoperable brain tumour - his dad Steve is chairman of our Mini/Youth section and his mum Vicki is a team manager.
We also stage events and regularly support the 'Victoria & Friends' group that raises funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The Club also raised over £8,000 for Cystic Fibrosis charities and has supported Oxfam and the Renal Unit at Portsmouth's Queen Alexandra Hospital.
In 1959, the Club was twinned with Royan Ocean Rugby Club as part of the Borough's French Twinning arrangements, which continue to this day with many lasting friendships being formed through a mutual love of rugby.
