The gap between the 1st XV and the two relegation places in the London 2 South West table narrowed over the weekend when Eastleigh hauled themselves off the bottom of the table with a 7-29 win over Andover, collecting a four-try bonus point win writes Brian Seeney.

It cut the advantage Gos had over the bottom two teams from 12 to now just eight points.

Winchester slipped one place to the bottom spot after a 20-17 loss at London Exiles but Effingham & Leatherhead continued their remarkable escape from the relegation zone with their fifth win out of six games this year with a 27-29 victory away to Old Tonbridgians. The Eagles picked up a four try bonus point.

In Saturday's other match Farnham lost 0-25 at home to Old Reigatian who trail leaders Camberley on 84 points by 10 points with Twickenham way back on 58 points. Bith Camberley and Twicckenham have played 18 games but Old reigatuion have played 19 matches.

Only four of the six games wiped out by the 'Beast from the East' snow storms on 3rd March were played on Saturday - the KCS Old Boys v Twickenham games was postponed for a second time due to weather conditions.

Gos couldn't play Camberley because they were involved in an RFU Divisional Cup Final on Saturday at Charlton Park which ended 12-33 to the Surrey side. Gos now go to Camberley on 21st April which extends their season by one week.
