Former 1st XV player Phil Hibberd is the sponsor of the match Match Ball for our next 1st XV home game against Old Tonbridgians on Captains' Day on March 10th.

He is pictured with 1st XV fly half Alex Duncombe (right) and prop Dan Gamblin who presented Phil with a signed match day ball.

Phil, who now lives in Canada, was back in the UK to attend a family funeral when he called into the Club to catch up with old friends and watch the England v Wales 6-Nation game and offered to sponsor a ball.

Phil, who started his playing career as a Colt in the 1969-70 season, went on to play for the 1st and 2nd XV's team. He was captain of the Vikings a number of times starting in 1978-79 season, then 1980-81 and again in 1985-86.

He emigrated to Canada in 1988 with his wife Sue and continued his rugby career with Brampton RFC (Ontario). He continued to play well into his fifties and some appearances in a few games in his sixties.

More ball sponsors are needed - you can sponsor as a business, an individual or share the cost as a group of friends.

Match Ball sponsors have their photo taken with a 1st XV player which is published on this website and on the club's Facebook page to acknowledge their support.

Sponsors also receive a match ball signed by the 1st XV.

The cost of sponsorship is a minimum £50 although sponsors can give a bigger sum if they wish!
