It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Ralph Bell last week following a long battle with illness writes Alan Foulger.

Ralph was a player at the Club in the late 70’s and early 80’s and also played rugby for Navy ships and establishments including HMS Sultan.

Club Chairman Alan Foulger recalled playing his last game with Ralph back in February 1980.

“I was captain of the 2nd XV and Ralph was playing on the wing and scored one of seven tries that day”.

From 2002-3 Ralph formed a partnership with Colin Smith, Ralph as Team Manager and Colin as Coach, for four years starting with the Under 16s and three years with the Colts.

Ralph was often seen in recent years at the Club attending the Match Day Lunches with his wife Evelyn as a social member.

His funeral will be at Portchester Crematorium on Tuesday 31st October 2017 at 11.15am, followed by the wake, to celebrate his life, at Fort Nelson, Portsdown Hill Road, Fareham PO17 6AN.

In the words of Evelyn Bell “He would love for as many of the rugby club members to be there to share a tot of rum and stories”.

There will be a minute's silence before the 1st and 2nd XV home games this afternoon.
