Gosport & Fareham Under 14s (Saxons) squad returned to playing on a cold but clear evening against US Portsmouth winning 34-19.

With kind permission of near neighbours Fareham Heathens and some deft organising by a Saxon coach, the team were given the chance to play under the floodlights at Fareham.

The Saxons started with members of the squad who didn't receive much game time in the previous match and were perhaps shocked by the intensity and speed of some of the US team who scored a very well worked try which was converted.

The Saxons rallied to score a try of their own but conceded another try.

The match was really close with the Saxons scoring another try which was converted and a further try to lead 17-12 at the break.
US were strong and aggressive in all aspects making the Saxons work hard.

Some minor rearranging of the team to ensure game time for all was made at half time.

In the second half some of the minor errors made by the Saxons we're eliminated, and they started to play better as a team. Storming runs from both the forwards and backs entertained a decent size crowd and the Saxons scored three further tries, one of which was converted, whilst only conceding one converted try.

The match was played at a high tempo in a fantastic spirit with intensity and aggression from both sides.

Two wins out of two under the lights for Saxons means the season moves on with their eighth consecutive victory.
