The Ravens' development team Muninn took on Winchester Warlocks at Gosport Park yesterday and seemed to be asleep for the first 15 minutes.

They were quickly 0-17 down as Winchester Warlocks gave them a lesson in retaining and winning the ball.

The visitors had support players who quickly secured the ball in the tackle so Muninn heads went down and key players again went missing in action.

At half-time the score was 22-0 to the visitors and after a stern talking-to, substitutions were made off the strong Muninn bench.

Two minutes into the second half it looked like the Muninn might get back into the game as they began to dominate the rucks. Joe Wilkinson broke away for a run to link with the backs and score after a great little interchange with Gregor House. Chris Denham converted.

Inexperience showed as the Muninn kicked 22m drop outs back to the visitors when they could easily have retained possession with a quick short kick. Wayward kicking gave the visitors strong players chances to run back and they were soon scoring again for a final result of 34-7.

Gregor House was nominated Man of the Match by the visitors for his all round game first at scrum half and then at full back, second only to Bailey Starkey in the tackle count.

William Hosell completed a whole game and carried well on several occasions with a strong contribution at the rucks in a good show of form. Ed Bell and Sam Rushent steadied the forwards when they came off the bench.

The 12-7 scoreline for the second half was a much better reflection of the game.

Post match revealed that House had fractured his thumb at some point in the game but had still played on to the end both brave in the tackle and in determination.

There is coaching this week to try to iron out the creases and prepare the squad for the return game with Tottonians.
